Old Napoli

It is Monday and poor Josh had to work today, so just the three of us took the Cumana train from Torregaveta station to Naples for a day of sightseeing.

From Montesanto station, we walked toward the water, past the Galleria Toledo.  I bought an 8 euro pair of "Dolce and Gabbana" sunglasses from a street vendor, since I had lost mine the day before in the water off the island of Procida.  These were the premium knockoffs; a pair of "Ray Bans" could be had for a screaming deal of only 5 euros.

The streets were jammed with people, and everywhere you looked there was something interesting to see -- a palazzo here, a piazza there.  We walked all the way down to the Piazza Plebiscito, passing the Gambrinus coffee shop as well as the Palazzo Reale.

Palazzo Reale.  Once a royal palace for the Bourbon kings, it is now a museum

Naples is vibrant and chaotic.  You take your life into your own hands when crossing the street.  It is best to wait for a brave local and follow them across.

Note the lack of white lines between the lanes...Pedestrians beware!
