Around Stockholm

This past weekend we hit a variety of music venues.  First up, some blues at club Stampen in the old town.

Followed by classical music in the park with 40,000 of our closest friends at a free concert by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic.

And finally a gig by Swedish group The Boppers, who were apparently a very popular doo-wop band in the 70's here.

We also enjoyed the lovely weekend weather, taking the #7 tram around Djurgården...

...and ending up at one of our favorite waterside cafes in town.

We also took the bus to a suburb called Sickla, to see the old AB Diesel factory where Kevin's great-grandfather Axel used to work.  It's now a library/community center and shopping mall.

And we took a walk up to the beautiful Sofia Kyrka, which sits on the hill overlooking the neighborhood of Södermalm.  Our apartment is just a few streets below the church, so it's one of the last sights we see every day when we come home from a long day of sightseeing!

  1. What a great adventure with a bonus of connecting to Kevin's heritage. I am just amazed by the depth of knowledge he has of generations past.
