Patpong Market

After two long flights on Qatar Airways, we arrived in Bangkok.

Not in Kansas anymore.
Our hotel (The Anantara Sathorn) is just a block away from my brother Todd's apartment.  So it will be very convenient to visit with him while we are here.

In the evening we grabbed some delicious dinner at a Japanese restaurant and then walked around the infamous Patpong area.  It's known as one of the more seedy areas in Bangkok, but there is an open-air market there as well.

There are some legitimate bars and cafes around the area, where you can grab a drink and people watch.

But there are also plenty of strip clubs and peep shows, and there are lots of touts hawking all the shows.  Todd quickly taught us to say "Mai ow", which means "I don't want it" or "no, thanks".

A line of tuk-tuks (three-wheeled taxis) wait nearby to take the partiers back to their hotels.
